This is a random blog entry that attempts to relay to you, the reader, the random nature of my daily life now. Actually, the only really random part of it is the shows I choose to watch, or the food I choose to cook. Actually, my life isn't really that random, it's just really... quiet right now. I can hear you going, "
It's reading week, Pamela, why aren't you revising?" But wait! My answer to you is that I have only one exam, and that is on the 7th of May. That's a pretty long way to go. At least, it is to my Year 4 self. Most of my friends don't even have exams, that's how amazing a year 4 student's life is! After honours thesis has been handed up, that is. To be truthful though, I think this only extends to Arts students, and also, for Arts students who choose to take modules with no examinations. However, even those who don't have exams, they probably had a pretty rough semester with all the individual and group assignments they had to do. SO HONESTLY, EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN DEAL, AINNIT ALWAYS THE CASE? Some gracious friends and family members around me have expressed their concern in my seemingly lack of attention toward my last examination, but I WILL STUDY, I PROMISE YOU. Just not now. Maybe when May arrives. OMG MAY IS ARRIVING. MY BIRTHDAY IS COMING. ICK
Here's some of the random dishes I cooked the past week:
This is carbonara, following
Antonio Carluccio's recipe on Foodtube! It's titled "Real Spaghetti Carbonara" because he doesn't use cooking cream in his recipe, which I think is traditional for Italians. Then again, I've seen many Italian chefs use cream in their recipes for carbonaras, so I was a little skeptical trying this. But you never know till you try it, and it was honestly very creamy and yummy without cream! Just egg white, and an extra egg yolk for creaminess. (: So happy I tried the recipe!
You can watch it here:
I also cooked
Sticky Tray Baked Chicken Thighs! It's also a recipe from Jamie Oliver's
Foodtube channel (from these you can tell how much time I actually spend on Youtube watching cooking shows hahahahahahaahahah) and I genuinely love this recipe! It's firstly, really easy; just chop all the vegetables up and throw them into a tray/dish and leave them to bake/roast. Secondly, it's really tasty because of the balsamic vinegar and paprika! Lastly it's quite healthy 'cos there isn't additional fat involved, besides some olive oil. (:
You can watch it here as well:
Also, a few months ago, a french fry was grabbed a few strands of my hair, and my lovely dining partner, Ms Ng Yoke Cheng, thought it photo-worthy:
Hello french fry. We hadn't had long john silver in awhile! We used to eat it so frequently in secondary school. FRIED CHICKEN! Considering my sore throat now, I probably shouldn't even be thinking about fried food lest my throat punishes me
Another day, I decided to dress really strangely just on a whim:
This is oddly, one of my favourite outfits. I envy people who can pull off monochromatic outfits, baggy stuff, and just cool clothes in general. I am always inclined to colour, and this is my take on a cool less colourful outfit!
Also, my hair had just been dyed (will blog about that soon!) and hence was really bright in this photo
In keeping with the random theme, here's a photo of random macarons taken more than three months ago:
Wanchun and I finally hung out!!!! She was really tired because she had a full day's worth of classes (terrible Friday schedules), but we managed to grab a bite and had dessert and coffee at Canele at Plaza Singapura's new building, which has now closed down and is being taken over by Nam Nam Noodle Bar! I can't complain because I love them both equally but hahahaahaa I can't help but see a trend in the areas Nam Nam appear at - they love being stationed beneath escalators.
Pretty Wanchun and I! (:
We decided to head to Clarke Quay for some drinks and at Highlander, they were playing Top 40s songs from... many years ago. *twitch* HOW IS THIS EVEN HAPPENING? Anyway it got really noisy inside so I asked to move to a table outside!
Hehe always sneaking shots of her
Anyway I had a great time catching up with this sweet cutiepie and it's really just always a relief that we can meet and talk to each other about so many things even though we don't regularly meet up! (: Can't wait for you to be done with your assignments and deadlines (yup she's one of those who don't have exams but has crazy assignments!) so we can meet up again! :D
Left Clarke Quay and she returned home while I went to find Bryan and the rest at Zouk! It was
Osunlade playing at Velvet Underground that night, such awesome music sigh #happy The dude has huge pierced lobes beeteedubs
In particular, I liked this track!
Snapped this when I returned home! My ribbed back dress is from Motel through Asos! I quite like Motel stuff, they have nice dresses. This particular dress has a skater-style and I'm not really a big fan of that, but I do love the back part quite a lot! :D I had to wear stick on bras for this though, and for someone who's always worn bras that really support, the amount of
jiggling to deal with in the beginning was quite hilarious. Then I got used to it hahahhahaha
Perhaps I should sleep earlier as well, to quicken my recovery process. Consequently, the drilling from my neighbour in the unit directly above mine starts at 10am as well, so I usually can't sleep past that. SIGH
FRIENDS PLEASE ASK ME OUT I HAVEN'T SEEN Y'ALL FOR SO LONG (I know it's only been days but it's 3:37 am, I'm
allowed to be dramatic)
good morning
