i am not an owl

I survived my first wisdom tooth extraction!

I have been tolerating the pains caused by my wisdom teeth for close to three years, but recently because of vanity issues and practical reasons (I am unemployed and hence have a lot of rest time) I decided to go for the extraction, which occurred about two hours ago!

As a result of having an over-active imagination and watching too much of Pewdiepie playing The Evil Within and Outlast, when the masks were placed over my eyes and mouth, I immediately went into panic mode and started imagining all the crazy things that would happen to me. Tried my best to calm down and nothing worked until I started singing The Carpenters' Top of the World in my head and working out an eye makeup tutorial, with step by step moves and product names. My anti-panic mechanism works! Thank the stars for The Carpenters and makeup.  :D

The whole process was really fascinating.  I am deathly terrified of needles, so I closed my eyes and did deep breathing when my doctor began to prepare for the extraction.  As long as I don't see the needle, I'm fine.  After he inserted the first needle, I was quite calm, but he went on to say "The next one is going to hurt more, because it's on the harder side" and in my mind I was like "YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL ME THAT RIGHT"  I mean, I'd rather not know.  Before he did the third injection, he said "This is the last one and people say that this one hurts the most", which made me panic quite a bit but... I think in the end it was alright.  Just don't look at the needles.  Following that, the right side of my face started having pins and needles, and it became incredibly numb!  I'd say the cutting of the tooth and the pulling of the bits sound quite scary but at the same time, you don't feel anything because the occasional dull thud of pressure, so it's all quite intriguing.  I'm glad it's over!

Most importantly, thank the stars for my caring mommy who accompanied me to the dental clinic and bought me soft food for lunch.  (:  Now, if I can get myself to open my mouth...
