The Internet was making me feel slightly depressed just now. Actually, the entire day's just been rather muted; everyone's voices just hit my head with a dull ache over and over again, and I felt irritable at almost everyone and everything. Thankfully I've made it through this day. To reward myself for having not smacked anyone, a slice of Awfully Chocolate cake has made it down my esophagus into my tummy, YAY.
This monthly menstruation cycle thing sometimes really goes out of hand. This month I'm just plain cranky.
Blogging helps to lessen my anxiety because I'm forced to focus on the subject at hand instead of letting my mind wander and contemplate a gazillion things at once so... Here I am!
I wrote that previous part yesterday and today I have awakened... Things are not better. THE HAZE IS A BLANKET OF FUZZ WITH LONG STRAGGLY ARMS THAT CHOKE ME.
Sigh.
I finally met up with Vonger last week! We've been wanting to hang out for the longest time but only managed to this week, because she was on leave.
We had
4 Fingers Crispy Chicken!!! Ion Orchard's branch was where I first had my taste of the mouthwatering goodness that is Korean Fried Chicken. I've also had it at Kho Kho Nara but I think 4 Fingers is nicer! I never knew there were other branches, so when Vong told me there was one at Dhoby Ghaut I was delighted. There are others at Changi Airport and Jurong Westgate as well!
I got the meal that I usually get - 1 drumstick + 3 wings with fries (a choice between seaweed and kimchi) and a drink that costs 9.95$!
In my opinion, the chicken at Ion's branch tastes much better! I think the marinade used there is more flavourful! Or maybe they just use a lot more over at Ion; I feel like the wings at Dhoby's lack marinade.
Vonger had just returned recently from Japan and bought me goodies! I had initially thought she was just gonno pass me one chocolate and be done with it, but the entire bag was for me! "Happy Children's Day," she said. :D SO HAPPY, THANK YOU YEEEEEEE I LURBZX YOU. I finished all the different flavoured kitkat (there were matcha, sakura matcha, strawberry and red bean!) and Tokyo banana the next day and she was rather shocked when I told her. I shared everything with my parents LAAAAAA
Hung out for a bit at Dhoby Ghaut's Starbucks before we decided to venture out to Lavender to check out a place!
Made use of the Jalan Besar stadium lights that shone exceedingly brightly
Can you guess where we were headed to? (:
No?
YEAH MAN, we were at
Windowsill Pies! Okay I might have given that away in my entry title but please excuse me, I was bouncing about with barely contained excitement at the thought of eating those pretty pies. LEMON MERINGUE TART. ARE THOSE THREE WORDS NOT SUFFICIENT TO GET YOU EXCITED?
We decided upon two slices of pies after an excellent recommendation by the server who had a wonderfully deep voice just perfect for describing those delicate flavours of pies and got the Lemon Meringue one with Strawberry jam (left) and the Passionfruit and Pineapple with White chocolate chunks (right)!
Both tasted AMAZING. The lemon curd on the lemon one was tart yet the sweetness level of it just very perfectly balanced out the tangy-ness of the lemon zing. The texture of the lemon curd was just right as well, not too tough nor too mushy! Of course the pie crust was crisp and had a nice crunch. Apparently this is one of their best sellers, but the newer flavour, the passionfruit and pineapple one left such an impression on me! The combination of the sweet passionfruit and slightly tart pineapple is so mouthwateringly good, plus the white chocolate chunks were such a bonus!
One cost $7, and the other $8. I also got a Long Black ($4.50) because I was feeling a little tired and it was very nicely done!
The decor in the cafe is really cute and quaint as well. Especially loved the bright yellow refrigerator and the book shelf at the side!
Vonger looks so cute with the bear!
Here is the little cafe, tucked away along Horne Road. Keep your eyes peeled out for it, because Vong and I nearly missed it, if not for my noticing this oddly decorated apartment above that made us stop in our tracks!
The address is 78 Horne Road Singapore 209078, and their opening hours are:
Tue-Thur: 11am – 9.30pm
Friday: 11am – 10.30pm
Saturday: 10am – 10.30pm
Sunday: 10am – 9.30pm
Closed on Mondays
Here's a link to their pretty website if you're interested:
Windowsill Pies!
Felt like wearing my high waist jeans out... Really love this pair of jeans for the high waisted button design! Paired it with a floral crop top from F21 and ankle boots from Topshop!
Thanks for the shots Yee! I had a really enjoyable time catching up and also having more _serious_ conversations. (: Really haven't sat down and done this with you in awhile! I think I'm getting to this stage in my life where I prefer to have conversations of stellar quality with friends, both old and new. Can't bear it when my interlocutor is uninteresting, not anymore!
Was quite tired out after getting home that I just plopped down on the floor and blanked out for a bit. It's difficult sitting in those high waist jeans, haha.
MOTD... I've been doing brown and copper smokey shadows with dark lips a lot these few days! Maybe it's because most of the Youtubers I follow are doing so many fall looks now because autumn is nearing in America and Europe, and I'm influenced.
This is a newly opened lipstick; it's Vamp (matte) by Sleek! I love everything Sleek - all colours are always so pigmented and well made. It's crazily good quality for its prices! Can't wait to stock up again.
Okay gotta go work off my cake intake for the week. GOODBYE.
