That rain! I'm wrapped up in a thick wooly cardigan now. The weather these days has been pretty chilly, and the winds have been rather strong! I've been battling a cold for the past week; it comes and goes. I feel like the cold weather brings out dance feels in me! I wrap myself up in layers of inappropriate (to Singapore's tropical climate, at least) clothing article and bounce around my room.
Everything sounds better with the subwoofer.
Was at a particular club with distinctively banging subwoofers the other night! Tale of Ushad a DJ set at Velvet Underground.
Wore this sweet thing out! Love love love this slit-skirt by Feist Heist. It gives the illusion that you're showing quite a substantial amount of skin but to be honest a pair of shorts shows off more skin than this. Paired it with a criss-cross scuba top by Nasty Gal, and of course I had on my trusty platform boots from Sixtyseven!
I love Tale of Us. I love Tale of Us. I love Tale of Us.
I've loved them since hearing their set in Richie Hawtin's Enter at Space Terrace in Ibiza (Week 9). I think it was Wayne who shared it? I literally started obsessing over their stuff as producers and as DJs after that. They make and play the kind of tech-house that I really love - deep, dark and resoundingly energetic.
That night, they ended off with this track!
Which is lovely and makes me want to cry (I know, how ironic).
But I also love the tracks that they have played recently in their sets, namely:
And more recently, from their January 2015 Essential Mix:
SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD.
After the night ended, cousin then brought brother and me to this stall that sells SUMPTUOUS CRISPY PORK SKIN.
It's called No Name Hainanese Curry Stall, and it's located at Blk 40 Beo Crescent! I think people better know it as the "curry peng stall near Zouk". The rice, drenched in curry gravy, IS SIMPLY DIVINE when you're starving after hours of dancing. The pork skin is really addictive too! I had the most out of the three of us.
I got home pretty early in the morning, had one hour of sleep, and then rushed out for my appointment:
ON ONE HOUR OF SLEEP & NOT PASSING OUT, YAY
(Wearing NYX Merlot on my lips if anyone's interested, lined with Etude House's lip liner in dark red)
Rushed to Marina Bay for a photoshoot with the Tens Asia crew!
The ambition of the Tens team is simply "to make your day look ten times better". The philosophy of the team, which consists of Marty Bell, Tom Welsh and Kris Reid, that came up with The Real Life Photo Filter, sprung from the phenomenon of adding filters using cellphone apps to photographs in order to enhance them. As Bell explains, "we asked ourselves: what if we could skip the cameras and computers altogether? What if there was a way we could filter everything that we see whilst disconnected from technology?"
With a lot of research and brain storming efforts, Tens sunglasses was birthed! As that particular day on the shoot was EXTREMELY sunny, when I first put on the sunglasses, I couldn't help myself from cooing with pleasure - the view of the Marina Bay Sands and the CBD skyline was extraordinary! Everything looked stunning.
Here're some photos of the shoot, courtesy of Adriel!
And this is my favourite shot of Sian, who's one half of the team that's brought Tens to Singapore (the other is Stu, her fiancee).
Had loads of fun mucking about with Rina!
At the Helix Bridge. You can tell that it was pretty sunny!
Here're some group shots in which Sian, Rina, Joel and I attempted to display candidness in our contrived laughters and smiles. I'M JOKING. I think being hungover and light-headed helped for me, because I was being absolutely silly and just mucking about with the rest!
"WORK IT C'MON EVERYONE LET'S WORK IT"
'twas fun.
Here's Rina with Stu!
And if you've seen this floating about Facebook.....
Visit the Tens Asiahomepage, or you could read about the science behind it (how colours and saturation have an effect on how we perceive the world around us and in turn, affect our mood and feelings) on The Creators Project! Do use the code "tenoff" if you want to purchase a pair, as they're currently having a promotion! Not too sure when that will end, do have a look yourself to check it out.
Thanks a lot to Stu and Sian for being so easy going and excusing my poor attempts at being a "model", as well as gifting me with a pair of Tens! I did read up on Tens before heading for the shoot, and the motivations behind the creation of such a pair of sunglasses was quite intriguing; at least, to me, I was impressed. Thus when I reached the location, donned on the sunnies, which actually showed a DIFFERENCE, I was quite delighted! I mean, yeah, all sunglasses do have glass pieces on them, which are usually coloured or tinted to some extent (so as to protect your eyes from the sun, or for aesthetic purposes), but for Tens, I thoroughly appreciated the view through them, more so than I would a normal pair of sunglasses.
Thanks a lot to Adriel too!! He's the one who asked me if I wanted to help out in this photoshoot. We went for lunch afterward and the both of us were just so hungover it was hilarious. "I think I'm sweating alcohol," he had said.
I write about my everyday experiences & pen down my thoughts in this lil' space.
I read, listen to music, have a passion in language, love makeup and most of all, I observe. I really like learning.
I love making a difference.
