of Amélie, Modern Love with Peggy Gou and a fabulous day out with friends

Amélie Poulain:
The girl with the glass...

Raymond Dufayel a.k.a The Glass Man:
Yes?

AP:
Maybe she's distracted because she's thinking about someone.

RD:
Somebody in the picture?

AP:
No.
More likely a boy she saw somewhere, and felt an affinity with.

RD:
You mean she'd rather imagine herself relating to someone who's absent than build relationships with those around her?

AP:
No.
Maybe she tries hard to fix other people's messy lives.

RD:
What about her?
And her own messy life?
Who'll fix that?

- Amélie (Jean-Pierre Jeunet, 2001)

//

I have to say, I've had a pretty good weekend.

Last evening, I put on Amélie (Jean-Pierre Jeunet, 2001) and had some me-time.  I loved the film!  The plot was relatable and quirky without being overly artsy.  I especially loved the role of the narrator and the conversations between Amélie and Raymond Dufayel.  The way the film was shot too reminded me of old-school black and white film techniques.  So very pleasing to the eye, the laidback scenery shots and of lazy streets in Paris.

I started my Friday morning awfully tired:

This was my 9am quick snap to my colleagues, as I was at Open Door Policy for a menu training.  Zee said I really looked half-dead.  The fatigue is evident.  My front camera's pretty blurry but I was wearing Sin from Urban Decay on the inner part of my eyes, and Galapagos from NARS on the outer part.  Eyeliner was a brown liquid eyeliner from 1028 (Really good brand from Taiwan, and affordable too!).  Cheek colour was Super Orgasm from NARS, and lips were a bottom layer of Sleek's Liqueur (from the Sheen lipstick range) and Wet n Wild's Coffee Buzz gently dabbed over.  Coffee Buzz is an incredibly dark purple, delicious and sultry, however, when applied on its own, it tends to accumulate and get caught in the lip lines, which isn't very presentable, having dark blotches on one's lips.... So yeah I try to use a nice moisturising base layer beneath!

Had a pretty long morning because of the menu training and after a quick return back to the office to catch my breath and to pick up some stuff, I left again to Seorae to host a media tasting.  Got back to the office toward the late afternoon and the colleagues popped open a bottle of red - it's been a hectic and tough week.  I'd meant to head home first before heading out again to kyo for Modern Love, but looking at the time, Joy and I decided to go for a blow&dry at Tanjong Pagar Plaza!

End result!  I love it when they curl my hair slightly at the ends.  Was a little buzzed and happy, and was bouncing around on Snapchat LOL.  Follow me on @greekhoneyxx if you'd like

Hurried back to the office and touched up my makeup (quickly did Joy's eyes too!), before heading out to PasarBella.  I just realised I spent Friday at three clients' places!

Thank you Gab for our round of sangria! (:

This photo was taken for our WhatsApp chat with the Under Armour athletes and it was hilarious what everyone was saying.  UA bras (the Eclipse style in particular) give you bewbs.  Go try them on!

After conversations with the lovely PasarBella team, Gab dropped us off at kyo.  It was Eileen and Adrian's Modern Love night!  When we stepped into the basement, Eileen happened to be walking toward the entrance and the both of us happily bounced toward her and attacked her with hugs LOL.

Eileen always play the wonkiest of wonky music, sometimes with a bit of tribal influence, and the tracks she chooses always pushes the boundaries of electronic music that I enjoy.  She goes by the moniker of CATS ON CRACK, check out her SoundCloud page here!  Adrian's moniker is weelikeme and his page is here.

This was one track she'd played that night that I exceptionally enjoyed, to my surprise!

And she also played this; I reckon I've heard some remix of this before somewhere... But it was nice to hear this on the dancefloor (and dance to it)!

Gigi joined us after!  Haven't seen this girl in the longest time, was really good to catch up with her.  The ever-popzx girl bumped into her friends Xavier and Shawn, and Xavier laughed at me a bit for being lost in my own lil' dance bubble.. But Modern Love's guest DJ of the night, Peggy Gou of Rekids and Phonica White was really KILLIN' it.  I felt like my soul was soaring when she played this track:

She'd played it at a higher bpm than this original one, so the buildup was even more intense  *-* I swear I was flying...  I LOVE DANCE NIGHTS OUT SO MUCH I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO CONVEY TO YOU THE SLIGHTEST OF HOW I FEEL  ;_;

Dropped by Canvas and Refuge for a bit after, and dragged myself home and fell flat asleep at 5am.  Was supposed to get up at 7am but totally slept past my multiple alarms  D: Jerked awake at 9am and hurriedly got ready for Nithiya's wedding!

With Ms Neo, whose effort to dress up according to bright colourful and cheery theme must be applauded!

The Sri Thendayuthapani Temple at Tank Road is so lovely and pretty!  There were many ladies dressed in their sari of rich and glorious golds, vibrant reds and intense yellows.  Was totally gushing over the beauty I was witnessing.

Also, look who I bumped into!  When Ms Neo and I received our invites from Nithiya, we didn't really think to ask around to see who else had been invited (mostly because our lives are consumed by work and it didn't even occur to us, or at least, to me, to ask around).  This little lady brings the most joy to my lifeeeeee was so glad to see her, Lyana and Gayathri too!

Bumped into Brinda too, who looked lovely in her traditional sari (:  Brinda's my EL junior from NUS!

(the baby at the right side veh cute hor)

After lining up to congratulate the bride and groom - Nithiya looked absolutely gorgeous  *cries*  She was glowing with happiness -  and snapping a quick photo with some of the Anderson Sec crowd, we headed to the dining area for some yummy food.

Shiok sia the curry

ALSO BUMPED INTO THIS ONE:

From primary school to working life!!!  How many years has that been?  Anuja's been in the same school as I have been in since primary school!  Was great to catch up for a short bit.  (:

Because I had driven (also parallel parked for the SECOND time since my driving test HAHAHAHAHAHAHA), I offered to drop the ladies home.

Love this missy, always looks so cute  :D

Matching crop top & shorts are from ASOS!

Went to Salted Caramel to hang out for a bit with Hudidoo after dropping Zhiwei and Lyana off.  I got meself a Lychee Milkshake and she a Pistachio single scoop.  We were just chatting about how it was absolutely delightful that the Anderson sec crowd just steps into beat without missing a step, with such ease.  I mean, to be honest, I didn't really hang out with most of the other Anderson sec crowd at the wedding whilst in secondary school (we were from different classes), but it was really heartening the way we said hi to each other without it being awkward.  :D  Also I'm pretty sure my PE teacher (Ms. Jessica Ho) and my sec 1 art teacher (Mrs. Kamal) don't remember me but I remember how tough Ms Ho's PE classes were - which I appreciate her for - and I remember Mrs. Kamal teaching us to draw, or attempt to, in my case, Vincent Van Gogh's The Starry Night.  We also had intense discussions about many other things - I think we covered a lot of ground, didn't we b?  In the close to six months that we hadn't seen each other.  You occupy a huge space in my heart and I truly hope that things get better for you  *tighthug*  You are a strong person and you'll get through all of this.

Drove my tired ass home and lay on my bedroom floor for a bit.

Face: Make Up For Ever HD foundation in N117
Powder: Revlon Colorstay Pressed powder in Light / Pale
Bronzer: Inglot contour powder
Brows: Daiso eyebrow pencil in dark brown
Eyes: NYX Jumbo eye pencil in 604/Milk (as primer), L'Oreal La Couleur Infallible 24hr cream eyeshadow in Always Pearly Pink, the shade on the most-bottom right of the Makeup Academy Heaven and Earth Palette, lashes are no.6 from PALZ Eyelashes (can be bought from Bugis Street!), Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner in black
Cheeks: Angelika powder brush from NARS
Lips: Mink lipstick from Topshop as base, Wet n Wild's Coffee Buzz on top

My skin's yellow toned and I have lots of redness in my skin, so I tend to do more blue-toned and cool-toned colours to even things out... Recently I've been quite obsessed with plum toned lippies!  I try not to make my daily look repetitive, and makeup's truly the one thing in the morning that gets me going.

So happy from seeing my friends this weekend!

Wishing on faerie dust and the glittering stars for more good days like these.  (:

Off to my granny's for dinzx!
