The Providore at Mandarin Gallery and Covelli at the OC

HI EVERYONE! How's your Monday going? It's going to be Tuesday pretty soon -- in two minutes, actually -- so we probably shouldn't dwell on Monday any longer. I was shown this video though, which I feel I must share with you, because it left me feeling absolutely stunned and incredulous.

DAFUQ DID I JUST WATCH

Okay anyway, foxing around aside, this week's e-learning week for the people over at NUS. As taken from the NUS blog, the reasons for the e-learning week are as follows:

"One aim of eLW is to understand how the University and staff could recover from the loss of interactivity and face-to-face contact when normal ‘services’ resume again. A second point is that eLW would allow staff to get better acquainted with the educational content development tools available at NUS. This will allow them to consider using these content development tools in future to complement their face-to-face teaching. The third point is to allow Computer Centre and Centre for Instructional Technology (CIT) to use eLW to stress test campus network infrastructure and internet bandwidth, course management system and streaming resources."

The reasons are valid, but to be honest, I think the majority of us dislike e-learning week, just because there's a lack of interaction. To hear the sarcastic comments my professors have made regarding it, I reckon they don't enjoy the idea of e-learning week as well. There's definitely more work that has to be done, but because I don't have to go to school, I feel like I'm having a week's worth of holiday instead WAHAHAHHAHA. I totally just slacked my weekend away #likkaboss

Sadly, today, defeating the core purpose of e-learning week, I travelled to school because the reading that I was assigned for today's e-lesson can only be found in the Locked Vault. It's called the RBR. I'd forgotten what it stood for and was trying to recall today but I couldn't -- Restricted Books Readings? It's actually called Reserve Books/Readings.

Moving abruptly away from locked vaults and school, approximately one month ago Flea, Teyhonwei and I went out for dinner.

While I wouldn't have liked to start off my entry about dinner with a photo of legs and boots, Flea noticed that we both had on red socks and GUESS WHAT such coincidence is meant to be documented.

Met NEMMYYYYYY who was looking dapper in a stiff white long shirt!

We were at Orchard Central!

Decided to head to Covelli Italian Bistro & Wine Bar because I was having a serious craving for their very awesome risotto. If you've read my blog since a few months back you'd remember I'm a huge fan of Covelli!

Seated and excited for yummy food!

Sadly, when the menus were handed to us I was pretty shocked to see that there had been major changes made to the items. Very importantly, my favourite Prawn risotto with Saffron had been removed from the menu!! ):

I settled for another risotto instead.

The Antipasto Frutti de mare that the three of us shared! It was flavourful, especially the fish bits -- they were really well seasoned.

Whilst waiting for our mains

MY RISOTTO ARRIVED!

I was really stunned with the generous amount of seafood given.

Nem's fusion shoyu-wasabi pasta dish arrived!

It was too salty for my liking but Nem liked it! He thought there should have been a stronger wasabi taste though.

Flea picked the Pasta al Pesto Gamberi

It is linguine in a basil pesto sauce with sauteed prawns! Flea and I were really looking forward a good pesto but unfortunately the pesto tasted slightly.... odd. We thought it was because the basil leaves weren't chopped finely enough, and that the olive oil was slightly off but we aren't sure.

My risotto tasted okay but the seafood didn't taste very fresh to me. It really didn't match up to the previous prawn risotto with saffron.

): I'm very sad to say that I think that Covelli's standard has dropped! I'm not sure why - maybe they're still working out kinks in the menu's revamp. It's still a nice location to chill at though, hopefully the food becomes good again.

Not feeling fully satisfied, we went to another place for dessert!

Was checking out the new cafe in town, The Providore at Mandarin Gallery

Flea and Nem both got cappuccinos!

Whilst I had an iced coffee. The coffee is good! I hope you get the barista which we got :D

And we shared a slice of raspberry dark chocolate cake, which was amazing! Decadent. The sweetness of the dark chocolate against the slightly tartness of the raspberry was very nicely balanced and the cake sponge tasted moist yet fluffy.

A GOOD DESSERT ALWAYS MAKES UP FOR BAD STUFF!

(: I know I'll definitely be going back to The Providore to try out their mains! One of their menus has a cool concept of "sharing" - so no big mains but rather, small bite-sized pieces on a platter. Kinda like tapas, I suppose.

Alright, off I go. Hope everyone has an awesome week! Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
