Kam Jia Zhuang Seafood at Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 Blk 202

LET'S GET DOWN TO IT!!! Last Friday I had amazing zi char which everyone should know about so please sit tight and read on.

But first, this was what I wore, hahahahahaha.

Hall room's not mine by the way, I don't stay in hall!

Meinu, who had warned me not to be late, was late!!!!!

Here're the earlybirds:

:ppp
Vong, Flea and I! Notice that we're all girls; the stereotype of girls always being late is not true!!

We were at Kam Jia Zhuang Seafood stall (at Blk 202, Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 #01-1690! It's about a 10 min walk away from AMK mrt station) for dinner.

Our carbs was the Yang Zhou Fried Rice which tasted good, but I felt that it could have had more of a wok taste!

And this is sweet potato leaves fried in chilli and shrimp sauce! It was also okay, not spicy enough for my liking. But the sweet potato leaves were tender, which is already much better than many places which tend to serve old and string-y kangkong or sweet potato leaves.

This is the coffee marinated pork ribs! Tasted really good and the meat was very tender. I love the marinade, kept sucking on the bones for the flavour

The five of us also shared the Claypot drunken chicken soup, which was reaaaaally good. Tasted like it had been boiled for hours with tender lovin' attention (: I don't usually like herbal soups but this was really good I had seconds!

And saving the best for the last......

Fried prawns in a pumpkin butter sauce! Firstly the batter for the prawns is so light and fluffy and I think the prawns were fried at the optimal temperature so they were very crunchy. The prawns themselves tasted fresh and bouncy too! But the best thing was the pumpkin butter sauce. It is soooo buttery and the pumpkin just very rightly coated the prawns with a sort of thick consistency. The gentle sweetness of the pumpkin complemented the sweetness of the prawns very well!

Please do visit this zichar stall if you stay in the north :DDD These five dishes (all medium sized) cost us each $14! Also, Ang Mo Kio is a very hip place, just in that one night, we stumbled across two fights, LOL. Okay, not exactly -- one was of a half-naked person getting arrested by the police.

Anyway, we also went for dessert!

Shared this mango sago with aloe vera with Vong 'cos we were both so full from dinner.

Flea ; Teyhonwei ; Meinu ; Vong ; me!

Really appreciate how we still meet up though we're all at different stages of our lives (and some of us are hitched to significant others ahem ahem ahem so much more responsibilities -- EY IN CASE ANYONE THINKS IT'S ME IT'S NOT). Could spend any amount of time with this lot and feel entertained and contented that I'm surrounded by such idiocy and randomness. Meinu: "I REALLY THINK ALL OF YOU SHOULD START REARING BETA FISH. THEN WE CAN ALL START A FIGHTING FISH CLUB TOGETHER." LOOOOOOOOL. Wasn't in the best of moods that night but chilling out in the heartlands with ma homies will forever cheer me up!! LOVE YOU ALL!

/sappy over.

OKAY LA PLEASE GO EAT THE PRAWNS OKAY, REALLY VERY NICE. I want to attempt it at home but I've never really deep-fried anything before (I'm scared of oil splatters) and more importantly, my allergy to seafood is getting WORSE. Lol

Hope y'all are having yourselves a great day, and if you're not, as Forrest Gump says, "My momma always said 'Life was like a box of chocolate. You never know what you're gonna get.'" Praline/marzipan today, salted caramel/dark Belgian chocolate tomorrow!!! CHIN UP, HOMIES

Peace
