Carl Craig and Hong wit some Detroit house

Hello humans!

I've kind of lost touch of blogging, but I hope I still present a coherent and nice read for you here.  The holidays have started!  I only ended exams on the 5th of December, and right that afternoon I was helping juniors out with MPE (that's Module Preference Exercise to you non-FASS kids).  It was kind of tiring but I only realised MPE's ending tomorrow!  I almost didn't do it, haha.

I'm not really sure what I'll be doing this holidays but I hope to get down to researching some stuff for my thesis, and also just to spend time with my family and friends more.  It's the last holidays before I graduate!  *excited*  I was telling Flea I wanted to look for a part-time job, but she was asking me in a skeptical manner "Uh are you sure you really want to work?"

I guess, from her bummer point of view LOL, and also that she's started work now, holidays are really precious!  I should probably consider her insight, hmm.

We went out about three weeks ago to celebrate my ending school, and her getting a job!

Flea and I!  She kept complimenting me on how my fringe my looked, which was very kind of her, heh.  (:

I brought her to Koh Grill & Sushi Bar at Wisma Atria for dinner!  It's on the 4th floor of the shopping centre, located within the food court.

Salmon sashimiiiiiiiiiii.  One of those things that you can just eat non-stop, sigh.

We also got maguro nigiri, and natto (fermented soybeans).  When she pointed to that and asked if I'd tried it before, I was like "No!  Do you want to?"  And so we got it.

I LITERALLY GAGGED when I started chewing on the soybeans.  ):  It was reaaaaaally gross, to me.  Flea liked it though!

Here she is with the one and only shiok maki!!

:DDDDDDDDDD  BEST. COMBI. EVER.

Unagi wrapped avocado, with broiled salmon on the outside, accompanied with chewy bursts of tobiko  (flying fish roe), dressed in a sweet mayonnaise dressing ---- it's really heavenly.

I had to!

My hot pink bracelet was bought in Paris, in one of those hidden quaint shops selling whimsical pretty things.  My necklace is from Topshop, and so are my floral earrings!

Here's Koh Grill's Facebook link if you need more information: Click!

We took some ootd shots!  Flea's lace crop top is from Forever21, and her heels are from Heatwave!  I love the wooden part of her heels; they're very Aldo-ish to me.

My coordinates were mostly Topshop - necklace, earrings, and ankle boots all from there.  My roomy pink&grey clutch is from River Island, quilt white bustier from Ohsofickle, hot pink highwaist shorts are gifted!  I was very insistent I brought only a clutch out though because I was so sick of carrying school bags full of notes and heavy things, like my laptop, so much.

We were stopped by someone selling some body scrub/wash thingamajiggy and he was all full of praises and compliments.  Ladies, whenever men use such flowery language to shower you with compliments, turn tail and RUN.  I didn't take whatever he said too seriously and just enjoyed smelling the products he recommended.  "IT'S FROM THE DEAD SEA, IT'S VERY GOOD"  -_-"  Gently declined his offers of half-prices and free gifts and walked out of the shop, lol.

Headed to Zouk then!

We reached really early so the club hadn't opened then.  I bought Flea a long island tea at Wine Bar as a congratulatory drink for getting a job!!!  :]  Very happy the bartender gave us the 1-for-1 thing though we didn't have a Citibank card wahahahah.

After Hong replied we went to find him!  Here he is at the decks working his magic.  If you can see from the background it was really empty in Velvet still, because it was 11pm-ish.  Honestly though, if you can get in early, you should!  Don't have the mentality that "oh, I should only go in at 1am because it'll be crowded with people and more fun"!  I think that's silly because being the only ones on the dancefloor is really nice sometimes; you get to enjoy the space and really just bask in the music.

And trust me, Hong plays really good music.  I was really happy when he played this:

Bigger than Prince (Hot Since 82 remix) - Green Velvet

When he played it I very excitedly told him I knew this track and started grooving away and he was laughing at me hahahahahaha.

BUTTTT it's not really just about getting excited when the tracks you know get played.  I'm really happy when I notice new tracks which the DJs play.  Like these two tracks which Hong played that night:

Body Count - The Advent

Let's go Dancing - Tiga

TECH HOUSE ALL THE WAY BABY.

Do you know what's the most useful app you need to have?  SHAZAM/SOUNDHOUND, MY FRIENDS.  HAHAHAHAHA.  I could have just walked up to him and checked the track titles at the pioneer cdjs but I didn't want to disturb him.  Also it's just fun to shazam hehehehe.

Check out more of Hong's music here!

Some happy photos taken in the toilet while touching up our makeup!!  I think it's contradictory how we don't care if we look like sweaty monkeys from dancing but we hate if our eyeliner/lipstick is smudged.  But time spent in the toilet is girly time LOL.

By then not really paying attention to photo taking abilities, sigh #whyyoucoveryourownfacepamela

Check out Flea's sparkly eyeliner!  My girl has a very ghetto style, heh.

I also introduced her to Velvet nuggets which were introduced to me by Rico, thank you so much!!  VELVET NUGGETS ARE FANTASTIC.  They also provide them with cheese which I LOVE.  Whenever I tell people that Velvet nuggets are amazing they go "AIYA everything tastes better when you're drunk right"  But not really, these nuggets are yumzx, for sure!!

Carl Craig was playing that night and boy, was he good.  (:   I smile every single time I think of that night.

He really dropped some good ol' house, Detroit style.  Pretty old school and deep, just the way I like it.  Here're a couple of tracks in particular that I shazam-ed!

OMG MTV used to play such music?!?!!?  This is The Bells by Jeff Mills, really trippy shit, I would say.  Heh.

There was also this track but I can't seem to find a Youtube video for it, so do check out Marco Farouk's track here on MySpace if you want to!

Also, made a new friend that night!  Here's Has and I.  I really love his denim vest!!!!!!!  He plays at W Hotel and works there, but I've never been there!

After that we went back to Zouk main room to find Hong where he was sadly playing electro hahahahaha but it's sometimes nice to be able to sing to Titanium (not).

Photo taken from Zouk's album!

Was such a great night spent with Flea and some of my most favourite people in Zouk (always, thank you Wayne, Hong and Kristina for an awesome night!  Love you all); I mean it when I say that Zouk's my favourite club through and through.  :DDD

Let me know if you want to head to Zouk with me (not on Wednesdays though, haha) and I'll be happy to go with you!  Provided you 1)are not creepy 2)like electronic music like me heh.

LOVELOVE!
