Though I still had to revise for my last exam, I decided to
dye my hair. BY MYSELF. I always go to the hairdressers because I'm really afraid that I'd mess my hair up. But this time I was really bored so I just decided to try the Liese hair bubble thing out!
Was fun to shampoo my hair into a stiff hammer of sorts but breathing in the ammonia fumes made me feel quite light-headed.
That same day, Vong brought Boss and I to Wimbly Lu Chocolates! Andy had just finished his exams (lucky him), and he very spontaneously left hall to meet us for dinner. :D
I WAS EARLY!!! Well, kind of. Was late by the initial meeting time with Vong but she walked around the shopping mall at her place for so long that she reached Lorong Chuan later than I did. I like being early!! I've been early for quite a lot of stuff now; waiting for people's quite fun, actually.
Wimbly Lu is located within a private estate, so it's not accessible by public transport. It's an easy 5-10min walk from Lorong Chuan though. Boss, Vong and I had a nice stroll past Nanyang JC in the evening breeze.
From this blurry shot of the menu I hope you can decipher that Wimby Lu mostly sells sweet stuff! Like crepes, pancakes, waffles and cakes. They do a number of savoury items as well, but that's limited.
The place had a cozy feel to it! The ambience was really nice and comfortable, especially with the christmas lights up. The brick wall also lends the place an old, English cottage feel.
My iced mocha and I!
Vong vong (:
Boss' Lindeman's apple fruit beer! I'd poured it out for him into the glass, expertly, if I may say so myself. Hahahahaa
We shared the food, and first up was the
lemon meringue pie.
This was so yummy! The meringue wasn't overwhelming sweet, and the lemon wasn't exceedingly tart, so the balance of sweetness and tartness was great. The lemon curd had a good consistency as well, wasn't too soft nor rubbery. The crust was crumbly as well, just the way I liked it!
The interior was awesomeeeeeeee (: There was a good crowd in the place, and I really find the layout of the cafe very... cozy? But not cozy to the point where you feel like people are eavesdropping on your conversations. It was just nicely packed.
The only savoury item we ordered was the
fish fingers, and this was yummy too! Not your typical fish nuggets which are soggy and oily. This batter was really light and fried just right!
But the highlight of the night was really this:
The waffle with ice cream! I GENUINELY THINK THESE ARE THE BEST WAFFLES IN TOWN :DDDDDDDDD The waffles are -- sorry I've to say it -- crisp on the outside yet fluffy on the inside. It wasn't too dry either. The waffles cost 8.50$ with one scoop of ice cream but because I was sharing it with Yee, we got another scoop of ice cream for an additional $3. Still pretty affordable, and I'm so glad that I've found this cafe because it's better than Gelare and I don't have to wait for Tuesdays hahahahaa. Plus it's near my house and has a wayyyyy nicer ambience than Gelare! The ice cream is also very, very good. Of excellent quality, superbly yummy, sigh. We chose salted caramel and rum&raisin!
Wimbly Lu Chocolates is located at 15-2 Jalan Riang, and operates on these days:
Tue - Fri: 1:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Sat: 9:00 am - 11:00 pm
Sun: 9:00 am - 10:30 pm
Closed on Mondays
Left the cafe a really satisfied (albeit bursting a little) customer!
Yee and I! (:
Had to direct Boss a little before we got this nice shot of the two of us :p
Yee bought for us chocolate panda biscuits because she said we were revising still, and needed snacks. So thoughtful hor!! HAHA Here's us with the biscuits. I just sashayed my way home waving the biscuits in people's faces.
I've been back to Wimbly Lu another time, and they've already gotten their christmas menu out. One word for ya:
Eggnog !
(:
Have a lovely weekend, yall
