One fine day last December, Nemmy (who's in Stockholm now, bless his fortunate soul!) got us a deal on Groupon for
Santouka ramen! To be honest, I didn't even know what the deal was for but I said YESSSSS immediately when he asked because it's SANTOUKA RAMEN, ONLY ONE OF THE BEST RAMEN IN TOWN IF NOT THE BEST?!?!? :D
Also: I was early and teased by them -- HOW CAN THIS REVERSAL HAVE OCCURRED??!! "Where were you just now, bet you weren't at home right?" My friends are mean.
Nevertheless, I still love them!! Here're the two whom I particularly love. (:
Here's the ramen which I love, as well. Ha! I prefer the shio base as it tastes most pure and flavourful, simple and tasty! While the shoyu and miso bases are tasty too, they're too salty and complicated for my liking, heh.
We waited SO LONG in the queue because the six of us insisted on sitting together! Pretty much every single couple or small group of 3/4 persons behind us got their seats before we did - discrimination this is, aye it is. When we got in I noticed the reason: this group of people had already finished their food but were sitting there chatting for reaaaaally long (even after we had sat down!). Needless to say I gave them the evil eye
Vong Vong and I! Andy, is always, disinterested, at the periphery
Teyhonwei imitating me!!
He tried to convince Liz to do the pose as well
"NO" was the firm answer she gave
In the end she still gave in though! Hehe Alice always xin ruan de. :D
Our food arrived!
All of us were clad in some form of dark colour 'cept for Vong
Meinu was famished by the time our food came, but I still made him take a photo hahahaha
AND HERE IT IS! Our
10pc pork cheek + char siew ramen!!!!
Every single one of us had one set to ourselves ('cept for Nem), and trust me when I tell you we were really stuffed by the end of the meal.
Look at them pork cheek slices in all their glory! (: I made sure to eat the pork cheek slices first, but Santouka's char siew slices are actually really soft and melt-in-your-mouth, as compared to char siew slices from other ramen places, which might sometimes get quite tough and sinewy.
I do think the quality of their tamago has dropped slightlyyyyyyyyyy. I think Ippudo's tamago is quite good!
We kinda bought a whole selection of tiramisu to celebrate Yee's birthday belatedly. That was a pretty bad idea because we were ALL FRIGGIN' FULL, but we had fun comparing the different flavours!
Was attempting to lie to Yee that we were celebrating Boss' birthday in advance but it was a half-hearted attempt........ Anyway I've gotten so bad at birthdays; my dislike for my own birthdays has kind of transferred over and made me just ignore birthdays in general. I'm really sorry if I haven't said birthday greetings to you in the past couple a' years! Imma try to re-remember everyone's birthdays from now on and be more conscientious in celebrating people's birthdays with them.
Vee making her wish extremely belatedly hahahahaha - it still counts though!
The tiramisu were from
l'Atelier tiramiSu located at the basement of The Central at Clarke Quay! The one with the candle is pandan, then going clockwise, cherry, lychee, the classic flavour, and matcha. We all agreed that the classic and pandan tasted really yummy, but we all unanimously thought the matcha one tasted odd hahahahaha. I personally really liked the cherry flavoured one!
Love you Vong vong, hope you had a good time with us and hope that our half-hearted attempt wasn't too lame hehe
Asked someone to help us with a group shot and it's BLUR!!!!! I can't salvage it ):
Meinu had to rush back after, so Boss and Alice went back with him. Vong and Nemmy accompanied me because I was waiting for Flea!
We sat by the riverside and Nem entertained us with his ukulele. (: (: (: At that point of time, Christmas had yet to arrive so we tried singing a couple of carols. We also thought certain chords sounded a lot like one song that we were really familiar with but we couldn't place it!! In the end we sang the whole song out to remember the lyrics - it was Maroon 5's
She Will Be Loved. Hehe
After Flea and her American friend Patrick reached, I went to look for them! The pair had been walking around in Chinatown, cool beans huh. I ought to walk around in Singapore's streets more often and take in local sights. We went to Shanghai Dolly because it was a Thursday and Flea had friends there - gosh never againnnnnnnnnnnnnn O_O It was one of the strangest experiences I've ever had in a night club. Random people were going up the stage and performing, but each performance was vastly different to the previous and hence the acts were just really incongruent in my mind! For example, there'd be a girl group - presumably Chinese or Taiwanese - and they'd be singing Mandarin songs, but after them a man came on and sang Coldplay's Fix You. O_O After him came a girl singing some Korean song. I WAS MADLY CONFUSED and left pretty soon after hahahahaha
:D Times spent with the secondary school crowd are always good times! Y'all want to come my house for CNY or not hah. Whatsapp me leh!
MUCH LOVE,
