One day last month, I failed horribly at making plans for the EL peeps to meet for a foodie outing to
Wimbly Lu Chocolates Cafe because only 4 of us turned up and one half was late! I'm extremely pleased to announce that I was on time. Or was it about 5 minutes late? Melcher was the other one who was on time! (: We trekked to Wimbly Lu from Lorong Chuan MRT Station (it's not really a trek, it's about a 5-10 minutes stroll, to be honest, but Melcher does not stroll).
I once blogged about Wimbly Lu before (read post
here!), but a return visit was a must because the waffles are really so damn delicious.
Jiexin and I! The dear kept apologising for being late because she was stuck in a traffic jam, but it was really okay 'cos Melcher and I were just catching up. On that particular day we were discussing films and working out. I was telling him about how I'd done my Insanity workout, cleaned two toilets, and then rewarded myself with an icy cold beer, to which he replied "And then all your hard work gets washed away" -- which is TRUE, I'll give him that, but isn't that the whole point? At least it is for me. :p I honestly can't give up yummy food and fatty food such as ice cream, waffles, bacon and what not, so working out is pretty much just working up a good sweat and feeling better from all the endorphins released; I'm not trying to achieve a beach bod.
Anyway Jiexin had such a difficult time looking for parking slots!! It's really tough to park at the narrow road along Jalan Riang, which Wimbly Lu is located, and there's really no parking area nearby. I guess taking public transport or getting a cab is the best option!

This time I tried the honey cinnamon ice cream (I had salted caramel and rum&raisin the previous time) and it was REALLY GOOD as well! Cinnamon is just such a nice spice to give people a heartwarming kind of feel. I got maple syrup again as I never like chocolate syrup on my waffles! As per my previous visit, the waffles did not disappoint! They were crusty on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I like to mix it up - soak my ice cream in some waffle bits while have some waffle just on its own, thus the waffle really has to be two things: have the ability to take in the melted ice cream, and also be nice just on its own! This really has my vote for best waffles in Singapore. (:
The two guys who insisted Melcher's plate of waffles not be positioned in front of them both as it would give people the false impression that they were sharing the plate. LOL I don't get it either?
Gang had just gone to donate blood, hence the bandage on his right forearm (also why he was late! I got scolded by him because apparently it takes far longer than 10 minutes to walk from Serangoon but I told him that it was a short walk from both Lorong Chuan and Serangoon. D: Sorry it's Google Maps, not me). I sincerely want to donate blood as well, but I'm deathly afraid of needles. The prospect of staring at a needle for 15-20 minutes STUCK IN MY ARM just makes me tremble in my boots *-*

They both got Eggnog because Wimbly Lu had their Christmas menu up then! Melcher got the kid-friendly version whereas Gang's had rum in it. You should know of whom's I took a tiny sip ;p It was incredibly yummy! So rich and creamy, extremely decadent.
A group shot to end off a lovely day spent with my fellow EL majors, talking about everything under the lovely sky! I haven't forgotten about our ramen and yakitori outings, I just need time to organise everything again!! :D
Here's Wimbly Lu's site if you need the contact details:
Click! It was pretty crowded that day that we were there, and because it's such a small cafe (most probably has a max seating capacity of 30?), it stayed pretty crowded throughout, and people were waiting in line. So, do call to make a reservation (:
Jiexin gave us a ride to the MRT station because it was pouring by the time we left the cafe (thank you dear! (: ). She's the only friend whom I know drives a manual car, which is pretty cool. Speaking of which, does anyone know the contact of any driving instructors who teach in the North? I WANNA LEARN HOW TO DRIVE HAHAHAHAHHA.
A very simple outfit for the day, but I was in a cheeky sort of mood.
School's starting tomorrow! It's my last semester as a university student. I happily exclaimed to Bryan "I'm pretty excited for school leh! Besides thesis la, because I'm panicking like shit for that." To which he replied "Lol your sem's supposed to be for your thesis only please"
GULPS
To more foodie outings with the uni peeps 'cos OH MY GAWD, uni's gonna end for this old wug soon.
But forward looking, we must be. (: I don't typically give a fuck about New Year's resolutions and whatnot (pardon the eloquence), but this year I pledge to do my very best for my studies, bleed till I score that A and also, have my head on right, to not let my emotions get the best of me, to be able to win the very tough battle that is incoming.
Hope y'all have a great 2014 and may you grow stronger, wiser and more appreciative of everything and everyone around you! (:
