Good morninggggggg!

**

My first week of school has gone by!  I only have a two-day work week.  :D  It's because I only have two classes: GEK1058 Language and the Preservation of Culture, and EL4255: English as a World Language.  But I won't really be free, because I've my precious thesis to work on.  I had my first (proper) consultation with Dr Talib and I have so much research to do because I'm running a risk of writing a sociological paper rather than a linguistic one, which while is also worthwhile, wouldn't be too nice because I'm afterall, an English Language major.  Heh.

Here're some photos of my first week in school!  Before Y4 Sem 2 had started, I resolved to take more photos in school, but umm, my determination isn't really shown in these photos from Week 1.  But I'll do it!  Await FASS' secret spots!

Day 1 of school!  I've honestly cut down on makeup this semester, too lazy to care hahahahaha.

During the first lecture of GEK1058, Dr Steph Lo was really engaging and talked about a lot of interesting things but my mind just wouldn't concentrate.  Instead I was yammering quite a bit to Melcher and Filzah; I'm thankful that I've the two of them!  (:  Usually for UEs, I'm Alone with a capital A.

Day 2:

Wore a new pair of ASOS sandals before heading out for my 9am World Lang class.  That was a terrible decision, because by the time I had reached the station, I was in incredible pain.  Gosh, the hard plastic material really CUT straight into my feet.  In desperation, I asked Ms Neo and Jiexin for help, but they had both left their respective houses!  I was left with Boss - I asked him whether any of his female friends in hall would be able to lend me an extra pair of slippers but they all have rather larger feet than I do (my feet are pretty small: UK5/Eur37/US6).  So the dear kindly went out of hall to Coop to buy me slippers!!!  (':  I'm so touched.  Snuck out from class for a bit to change into my new slippers; Andy even brought me plasters.  (: (: (:  THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU.  My foot was actually bleeding  *-*

Dr Joseph Park is taking World Lang!  I absolutely loved him when I took Social Variation of English under him, so I'm pretty excited for his classes.  I was a little anxious regarding the class material though, because I was afraid I wouldn't like it - but quite a number of friends have told me that this was one of their favourite modules so I'm placing my trust in their words!

Still visiting The Reedz Cafe a lot; had lunch with B that day.  This is the grilled chicken chop ($5.90).  I know this isn't "clean" food but................... I'M TRYING MY BEST TO EAT HEATHILY!

Day 3:

Hung out with this bunch after my consultation with Dr Talib!  So happy to finally meet everyone again!  :D

Mor remarked that we were like Y1s taking photos hahahah but we're all Old Wugs!!!  :p  Anyway LingSoc is having our first event of the semester:

Join us for Elfresco!
Join us for Elfresco!
Join us for Elfresco!

(:  We decided to go sporty this time (and play Frisbee) because our previous event involved word games and was indoors.  But as you know, I ain't a big fan of sport games so you will probably catch me (and Bert) just lounging about  :p  Come lounge with us!  If not anything, you'll get a good time with a bunch of EL peeps and be able to ask us more stuff about EL modules and professors (we'll dish the good stuff LOL).

I captioned this on Instagram with "I can't quite decide which route to take this sem because it's my last school sem: to dress up nicely for school in only-meant-for-school-outfits [i.e. things I can't wear for work], or to completely embrace the fuck-it school spirit and not dress up at all since it's the last sem [because it IS the last sem for me to not dress up, get it?].  As you can see I'm caught in between"

I CAN'T DECIDEEEEEEEEEE.

B bought this for me from Thailand.  IT'S SO YUMMY!  Ate it while watching episode 3 of season 3 of Sherlock.  They just introduced such a complexity to the narrative by messing with the characterisation, which I love.  Had a furious discussion with Ms Neo over WhatsApp regarding the latest events on the show; I'm so glad for Zhiwei when it comes to things like this because she indulges all my angst and emotions from the television shows and media!!  Hehehehe

On Thursday, LingSoc had a meeting!  We have exciting events coming soon!!

NERD beanie from ASOS!

SWAGCHECK

Rowland has excellent dress sense and accessories  ;D  AND AN ABSOLUTELY ADORBZ FACE PLEASE

After our meeting, Bert and I went to D'Good Cafe at Holland Village for dinner.

I got the Eggs Benedict ($13.50).  ):  I wouldn't recommend it - the hollandaise sauce is a little too tart for my liking, and everything in general was just way too runny.  A lot of the sauce had seeped into the bread (which was described as "toasted brioche", but tasted like normal white bread), so it was soggy.  The eggs were alright, at least!  I was quite disappointed because I'd heard really good things about the cafe.

Here's a photo of Bert and I!  (:  So glad we got to catch up over dinner.  I'm kinda sad that we don't have any classes together but I told her I'll try to go to school more often to write my thesis so we could meet up more in school!

Well this semester looks tough.

MAY LADY LUCK STAY WITH ALL OF US THIS SEM!

Here're a few more random photos from the holidays.

I made a chicken salad with a vinaigrette and a mushroom risotto for dinner one night.  It was my first try making a risotto so there's room for improvement!

Had my first TWISTER FRIES of the CNY year!!  I love twister fries  :D

Also dragged the parents out for supper at Han's over at Upper Thomson - the silly ones wanted cheesecake.  They posed for this photo reluctantly and said "This kind of thing - supper - is really for the young ones; I bet the photo shows it [how tired they were]" hahahahaha

Another supper!!!!!!  Yes I've been having supper a lot so I gained a lot of weight over the holidays  D:   This bak ku teh is from Outram Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha.  B says it's highly raved about and people like to go there after clubbing because it opens late till 4am.  But besides the fiery soup full of pepper, I didn't really think the meat was anything fantastic, plus it was WAY TOO SALTY!  If I had to choose, I'd rather have bland food than too salty food.  Actually no, I'd rather have amazing food which is salted JUST RIGHT!

This sums up my first week of school and many supper ventures.  :D  I'm off to do more work for my thesis (to any friends out there who are concerned: YES I WILL RESIST STARTING ON A NEW TELLY SERIES)!!
