ELfresco 2014

LingSoc had our first society event this year!  (:  it was a potluck/picnic event of sorts held at the Utown green.  I made my signature egg& potato salad (which I absolutely do not eat except for when I need to taste it for adequate salting measures) and whilst boiling the potatoes, I accidentally counted the amount of time needed wrongly.  So I sent a text to the Lingsoc whatsapp group saying "I may have overcooked the potatoes a little.
Make that a lot."

Melcher replied with "stared at the potatoes too long?"

And whilst I was a little confused at what he meant, I was distracted by the preparation for the other food, so I just replied "Yes they steamed when I stared at them
*-*  Eat mashed potato can?"

It was only after a few hours when Moritza was telling me she liked my potato salad, and it was funny what I'd typed on the whatsapp group - that I'd "overLooked the potatoes a little", and I was really confused and I didn't know what she was saying.  Apparently that had appeared on the whatsapp group!! BLOODY IPHONE AUTOCORRECT, SRSLY!  -_- I didn't even realise I had typed that.  No wonder Melcher had replied what he had haahahhahaha.  Joachim was saying he laughed really hard at Melcher's reply.  Can't believe I didn't even realise hahahaah.  Melcher asked me "Then why did you reply what you did?"  I just told him "I was busy what!!  So I just replied something that was semantically related hahahahahaha"

Before the event, dropped by KR to pass some tater salad to Bryan as well!

I already started on the choya by then hahahahaahah hilarious.

Reached the UTown at 6pm and it was still really sunny!  The Utown green looks so pristine under the sunlight.  Found a bunch of EL kids already seated with quite a spread in front of them.  I was really glad to see Gang though HAVEN'T SEEN HIM IN AGES I MISS HIS FACE.  Also the first thing he said to me was "Pam you've to try this beer" hahahahahahahah

The following is all candid photos snapped by myself - I feel quite lousy 'cos I didn't ask more people to pose for photos *sheepish*  but I was getting a little carried away just talking to everyone and also!  The wind was making me very conscious of my dress flying up and I had to pay attention to that  -__-

EL FWENS!  It was nice to see new faces!  (:

Bert brought these; I'm in love with the cheese dip, seriously!

!! I was very surprised to see Dr Joseph Park with the rest when I reached!  :p  Wasn't expecting him to be there, but I'm really glad he was there.  The first time I ever took his class was during EL2251 Social Variation of English during Y2S2, and basically I was just mindblown by that module - it really sparked off my interest in sociolinguistics.  Being me, I actually went up to Dr Park after one of the later lectures to tell him that I was SUPER GLAD that I'd taken this module and I was really learning a lot (pretty much just fangirl-ed to him), and if you've spoken to Dr Park before, you should know he's a pretty shy person!  So he didn't really know how to react to my outburst HAHAHAHAHAHAAH and it has been slightly awkward since then - I don't think he remembered me but then again I never really knew.  But now things are okay 'cos I'm taking E4255 English as a World Language under him again and I promise not to fangirl again!!!  But I love Dr Park he is BRILLIANT :D

We had Yusheng!  Brought by Jun Yong.  He told us on FB that he's bringing "lo hei from Sakae sushi" and Jian Rong replied " Not to dampen the spirit but I think lo hei is a verb phrase......" HAHAAHAH only Jianrong, srsrly.

Excitedly exclaiming the words in an emcee-like voice, we made JY do it!!  Haha.  Ooh I also hadn't seen Kim Soong and Aly in super long!!  It was nice to catch up a little  (:

We had to google what to say for each step hahahhaa

It was my only yusheng of the new year!!!!!!  It's not something I usually do, haha.  This is random but Divya complimented me on my necklace and I said "Thank you on behalf of the person who made it" to which she was like wth hahahaha but it's just like in Lord of the Rings where the Men (or was it the Elves?) feel like the iron weapons they had BOUGHT from the Dwarves are considered theirs but the Dwarves think otherwise because they think that they're the eternal owners because they MADE them, right??  I'm such a geek hahahaahaha.

Joy, Jianrong and Mor!  (:

After a little while, the rest of 'em sporty kiddos went to play frisbee whilst the non-sporty ones sat around tinkering with Clement's guitar and attempting to sing some songs.

Joji baked really yummy muffins!!  (:  Thank you babe

Timothy, Victoria and Dion!  I really love Timothy's harmonising, he's brilliant at it O_O  Also, I found out that pretty much everyone in the LingSoc can play the guitar (or ukulele or the piano).  And they can sing really nicely omgosh what is this!!  I'm surrounded by polyglots and musicians

With my favourite people  (: (: (:

The game changed to Captain's ball!!  I didn't play at all but I really like playing captain's ball hahahahahah.  Such a secondary school type of sport.

After awhile, everyone came together and we sang Stand By Me while Jeffrey played on the guitar!!  That was really nice.  (:

Came home and felt pretty ill because........ I ate too much party snacks  *-*  My stomach generally can't take those kind of food.

Okay I look moody here but I had a fun day!!!

To more Lingsoc events (:

Also, if you're an EL major or you're just someone from FASS reading this and have EL friends (do help me spread the word!) and are interested to find out more about our upcoming events, check this link out:
