About a month ago, my cousin Weixiang got married! I was asked by him to be one of the two emcees - I was to speak English! Before I found out about that however, I thought I'd be speaking Mandarin and agreed to do it. Then I went "
I think I must go and brush up on my Mandarin haha" before I was told that I'd be speaking in English. HEHEHEHEHE
On the day itself, Shelly and I arrived hours earlier because neither of us had done emcee-ing work before so we were kind of nervous and wanted to practise. She was the designated Mandarin-speaking emcee!
Here's Shelly and I after dolling up! She was really intrigued at how I was doing my makeup (yup, a total 180 drastic change
before &
after hahahaha) and I managed to do some eyemakeup and concealing work for her as well! (: I genuinely love doing makeup for others :D
I snuck into the waiting room where the hired makeup artist was working on Heyu and I was overwhelmed with the number of MAC products she had! I was really nosy and went poking around in her collection (of course I had asked for permission; she said yes, she was really nice and enthusiastic about makeup!!), checking out the lip colours and eyeshadow pigments she had. The lip colours she had were so stunning - they were mostly the English rose kind of pink, with a purplish tint. The nudes that just complement a bride's blush really well! Sigh I wish I had that many products
Momsy and I! Initially, she kept poking fun at my "English accent" but honestly do I have one?!?!? D: In the end she was very supportive and kept smiling and nodding at me from below the stage :D
With pretty couzy Hweetin!
And Xueting, Weixiang's sister (:
My maternal granny was invited as well! Chinese weddings are complicated affairs, lololol. There're so many practices (tea ceremonies, sending of invitations etc.) and it can get pretty overwhelming. A big congrats to Weixiang and Heyu for pulling it off with such aplomb! (: (:
With my naughty cousin who refused to smile for the camera and my paternal granny! (:
I must say, I was pretty nervous during the start of the emcee-ing duties. I love the stage, like any choir member would, but one always gets nervous before any performance. This particular night I was significantly more nervous because HELLO it was my cousin's wedding I was so afraid I'd make a mistake hahahaha. Plus I was also ill (had fever flu and sore throat) since the previous days but hey! Shelly and I did well!!!!!! Hahahahahahaahah at some points we had to try to make the crowd more excited and applaud louder and it was just too odd to speak in English so I switched to Mandarin lololol.
Snuck outside with my younger brother and asked him to snap an outfit shot for me!
Gorgeous sheeny emerald dress was a loan from Flea! She has amazing taste :D My mary-jane pumps are from Topshop!
Younger brother rocking his almost-bursting pants as well. Stop bulking bro
Hwee Tin snapped this for us! (:
Credits for this to her too! Such a pretty shot, they both look so happy in it (: (: (:
Managed to sit down and have a nice meal and when dessert came...
WE GOT EXCITED!!!
It was
orh ni - yam paste dessert. I LOVE ORH NI SO FRIGGIN' MUCH
With cousin Chinyang, who was the best man! (: Looking dapper in his suit :D
With cousins Huiying and David! David is in his awkward adolescent stage - after taking this photo, he remarked "Yes now I can show my friends - photo with three pretty girls" And the three of us were just like
-______- " Lolol
Papa and I!
Shelly, Heyu and I! (: In her second dress, which was so poufy I was scared I'd step on it haha hence the awkward distance between us
Chinyang after whiskey lololol
The night came to an end! I was exhausted. Dragged all my makeup stuff back home - they were in two huge bags!
Got my nails done specially for the event - sparkly gold that really shone in the spotlight! Hehe
Makeup was kept simple to a shimmery-gold to brown smokey eye on the outer lid, Nars' Angelika on the cheeks (a light pink with lots of shimmer), and Nars' Catfight on the lips with a bit of nude gloss! Because the dress I was wearing already had a lot of bright colour in it, hence I didn't want my makeup to overpower the dress.
IT WAS A GREAT NIGHT! (: Again, congratulations to both Heyu and Weixiang!! (:
